  • One impression I always received from the vocals and performance of Jim Morrison was that they have quite a bit of power behind them, and I think that Been So Long is certainly a good song example to demonstrate this quality
  • Overall, an excellent song and definitely one not to miss

Been So Long is a song by The Doors which appears on their album L. A.

      Woman.

The track opens up with Morrison’s vocals accompanied at first by the bass guitar and a drum rhythm which all work together to create a simple but certainly definitive and powerful rhythm.

The guitar soon joins in which is a nice addition as Morrison and the other instrumentation continue on with this powerful delivery.

of Jim Morrison was that they have quite a bit of power behind them, and I think that Been So Long is certainly a good song example to demonstrate this quality.

In fact, with the power they have on the studio version on this track, I could only imagine that the live track is that much better in this regard.

A guitar solo comes in after about a minute and a half which helps me to characterize this song as ...

      • being sort of a blues traditional with The Doors adding their own heavy influence and unique sound to it.

One thing I’m really enjoying about this track is that everything is working quite well together: the bass has a steady rhythm throughout which is holding the song together, the drums are aiding Morrison’s vocal performance, and the guitar work definitely has that unique Doors-blues sound.

The song loops around for two cycles of verse, chorus, verse, chorus with some guitar

leads thrown in as well, but I don’t find myself tiring of the structure primarily because of how good Jim Morrison sounds on this track throughout.

Though this song may not have some of the unique sections that other songs by The Doors have, the power the band has throughout this song is something to admire and I think that it only gets better as it goes along until it reaches its end.

Overall, an excellent song and definitely one not to miss.
