  • The song opens up with the vocals coming in pretty much immediately and accompanied by a tambourine and some other instrumentation which unfortunately doesn’t leave much of an impression on me at all
  • I will say though that I can hear potential in the track in that the Flaming Lips do an interesting job of creating a unique atmosphere in the song, but it’s going to require some pretty good parts for this song to win me over
  • I like the voice of Wayne Coyne, but his vocals are just layered over with so many effects on this track that it just gets lost into a mess of sound unfortunately

Felt Good To Burn is a song by the Flaming Lips which appears on their record Hit To Death In The Future Head. The song opens up with the vocals coming in pretty much immediately and accompanied by a tambourine and some other instrumentation which unfortunately doesn’t leave much of an impression on me at all.

The vocals have an effect on them which make them seem slightly slurred in my opinion which I’m personally not enjoying too

      much unfortunately.

I will say though that I can hear potential in the track in that the Flaming Lips do an interesting job of creating a unique atmosphere in the song, but it’s going to require some pretty good parts for this song to win me over.

Unfortunately, as the track progresses the vocals just take on an even more confusing sound and it just isn’t very appealing to me.

I like the voice of Wayne Coyne, but ...

      • his vocals are just layered over with so many effects on this track that it just gets lost into a mess of sound unfortunately.

In addition, the song has an unclear structure to it and musically it unfortunately isn’t anything very interesting either.

In fact, none of the instruments manage to really make much of an impression on me with this track which is very unfortunate in that the Flaming Lips went for a track where the vocals

would pretty much take center stage, but then the mistake was made of adding so many effects to the vocals that any reasonable tone Coyne could’ve produced became lost.

Overall, I’m really not a fan of Felt Good To Burn and wouldn’t even enjoy listening to it on a very rare occasion; there is really nothing in this track which would make me want to listen to it and the Flaming Lips have much better options if you’re interested in them.
