I just recently saw the movie Arthur (2011). This stars the actors Russel Brand, the famous Helen Mirren and Jennifer Garner. Apparently, this has a low rating in IMDB but I loved this movie! People have been comparing it to the old Arthur movie which stars Dudley Moore. I have not seen that version but seem to me that the people who have seen it compares this to the new version and they don’t like the newer one.

The movie is about Arthur, a rich spoiled brat who loves to spend money for his childhood whims. He has a nanny which is played by Helen Mirren, who loves him and has been around for

him through different times as opposed to his mother who is barely there. His mom is a business tycoon who is busy at work and does not treat Arthur as her son, probably because she is so busy running the business she did not have the time to take care of him anymore. Arthur is then eventually forced to marry someone to strengthen business ties but he falls in love with a commoner whom his mother disapproves. Everything else went haywire because of Arthur trying to please his true love and at the same time, please his mother. He turns from a rich spoiled brat to becoming a common person who is capable of ...

      • living by himself giving up everything for the woman he truly loves.

I enjoyed the movie, Russel Brand is really a funny actor and he does his job well. You will either love him or hate him, in this case, I loved him! He was a good actor to play Arthur, a somewhat dumb but rich playboy who is naïve about the real things in life. Some people keep comparing him to Dudley Moore but it is simply not fair to compare both actors because both of them are great comedians in their own right.

Helen Mirren is really believable and plays a major role in the film. Jennifer Garner plays the gold-digging woman who

is supposed to be married to Arthur, and she plays it very well. Nick Nolte is the doting dad who is the father of Jennifer Garner on the film.

I loved the movie, I loved the laughs, I hated the woman who played Naomi because she acted kind of, well, dry. She looks as if she was acting and reading through a script, with no emotions in her eyes. If anything, she was the only dry actor in the whole film.

I recommend this movie for a fun Saturday night with your loved ones or friends. It is light, funny, warm-hearted and easy to watch! And an added bonus if you like Russel Brand and his comedic acts!
