Mane-Tail-Groom, otherwise known as MTG, is a product that was originally made for people but was switched over to being a product for equine. MTG was made in 1938 by a barber for his clients. He later found out this product was being used for skin and hood problems in horses.

I found out about MTG in a hair forum. It was all the rage and people were talking about the massive growth they were getting from this product. Of course, some were skeptical as MTG is now generally known to be for horses. It takes a little bit of research to learn the history

behind MTG. Enticed by all the hoopla, I jumped on the bandwagon and bought the MTG.

One complaint about this product that was unanimous throughout the forum was the smell. It does, in fact, have a very strong odor. This comes from the cade oil. The ingredient that caused wild hair growth is the sulfur but I personally believe the cade oil also has something to do with it. Cade oil is a medicinal oil. It cures skin ruptures and other conditions including those of the scalp. The best environment for hair to grow is a clean, healthy scalp. I believe cade oil enhances this ...

      • condition.

Unfortunately, the smell of the cade oil is not a subtle and not pleasant at all. It can best be described as burnt bacon grease. The MTG works remarkably well in growing hair but this smell can be difficult to deal with. Some people have tried adding essential oils to deaden this very strong odor but it somehow still manages to get through.

As with everything else, the craze came and went. However, there are still some few stragglers that still use the product. The makers of MTG have now created another product just like the MTG but it is supposed to be

easier on the nostrils. I think I smells OK. The MTG never bothered me anyway. I was very aware of the terrible odor but for me it was so offensive that I could not handle it. When you use MTG it is very, very important to shake the bottle rigorously to ensure all the sulfur is circulated. Since this is the main ingredient it would not make sense to apply the oil and not get any sulfur. MTG is also highly concentrated. I believe is also what leads to immense hair growth. If you take the smell away, it really is a fantastic product.
