  • It's power is not too bad, at around 525 fps, which is enough for target shooting, but I would not recommend it for something like vermin control

About 3 years ago, my dad got me an air/pellet rifle, called the Gamo Recon, which was about $100 online. It was supposed to be a “youth rifle” meaning decent power and accuracy, and lightweight. This is basically exactly how it turns out to be, if not better. This gun continues to impress me in terms of accuracy, especially. I liked it 3 years ago, and I still find it very fun to do some target shooting with today. It maintains good quality (besides some rust; a

problem on my part), and I would recommend it to kids around age 12-15, especially as a beginner’s gun.

I will start of with the things I like about it. The build quality is pretty nice. Most of it is made of a sort of matte-coated metal (sorry, I don’t know exactly what it is called), and it has held up pretty well. the stock is made of a hard plastic, which feels pretty durable, and is very lightweight. Overall, it is a really comfortable gun to shoot,

      • especially considering I was only 12-13 years old when I got it. There isn’t much recoil or noise at all when shooting, which is a good thing. Accuracy wise, the Recon is not bad at all. I remember about a year or two ago, I was able to shoot a pellet into a board of wood, then shoot that pellet again from around 50 feet, which is pretty darn good if you ask me. It’s power is not too bad, at around 525 fps, which is enough
for target shooting, but I would not recommend it for something like vermin control.

This gun has a lot of great things about it, and one key flaw: the scope. The scope it comes with is pretty simple, but I find that it has to be readjusted and sighted in often. I recommend you replace it with a different scope. It basically just does it’s job, but could be much better. I’d recommend this gun for a beginner shooter, for it’s comfortable weight and design, simplicity, and performance.
