The movie Extraordinary Measures, directed by Tom Vaughn is really a fantastic and engaging film. I was looking for a movie to watch this last weekend, it took me a while to find it, but it was worth it. It is not mentioned in the title, but the movie is actually based on real events, which is absolutely incredible. I enjoyed watching it. There wasn’t a single moments in the movie where there was bad acting, energy drop or insincerity. You can real tell that every single element in the movie was polished- the script, the acting, the direction, the post production. I can’t find a bad thing to say about it.

      The movie tells

and extraordinary story about a businessman and a scientist who join forces in a race against time to find a treatment for a rare genetic disease named Pompe. John Crowley (played by Brandan Fraser) is a proud father of 3 children- two of which, have the disease. He is a very successful businessman, working for a large company that pays his medical bills, and therefore dependent on them. There is no cure nor treatment for the disease his children are suffering from, but there is hope. For many months now, he has tried to contact a researcher in the University of Nebraska (played by Harrison Ford) , who developed a sound, yet un-actualized ...

      • theory for a treatment that can save Pompe children. Since he couldn’t get a reply, he travels to Nebraska and convinces the difficult and eccentric scientist to join forces with him and find the financial needs to fund the research. The journey is very difficult and unpredictable, with many, many hurdles along the way. But this is a ride, that I as a viewer, enjoyed taking.

The cast of the movie consists of quite a few, absolutely amazing actors. Brendan Fraser gives a brilliant performance as always. In this movie, while he still has that “younger audience” appeal, displays a bit more mature character. You can not only see, but feel the hopes and dreams and

the anguish in his eyes, as his character goes through the amazing life story.

Harrison Ford- as always, fun, appealing and intriguing. He projects a bit of a superhero energy for this character, but this seems only appropriate, since despite being just an underfunded researcher, he is the only hope the Pompe community has.

Kerri Russell- is absolutely amazing. She has a supporting role, but the emotion and the sincerity she puts in her role as a mother, makes it impossible to ignore her.

I recommend you to watch this movie, you will not regret it. You can even watch it with your children, it is done in a sensible enough way for any age to be able to handle it.
