Death in love is not a usual kind of movie, which generally was not accepted well by neither the critics nor the public. And do not blame them one bit. Death in love in unconventional, not clearly structured, and the topics dealt within this movie are just all over the place. At the end of the movie, there is no sense of resolution.

When I finished watching this movie I knew two things: a. I liked it and I cared about

the characters of the movie, which really meant that the movie was not as bad after all. And b. I was totally and utterly confused. I did not know what the movie was really about.

Was the movie about the emotional horrors of the holocaust transferred as painful and damaging legacy through the children of the ones who survived? Was that about the sense of loneliness and lack of belonging in the big city? Was it about Freudian issued, dreams, desires? Was ...

      • it about the inability that we all have naturally ingrained in us to connect to another person’s desires and needs?

One thing was really clear to me, the topic of movie had nothing to do with the holocaust- and maybe this is why it was so confusing. If the mother’s lover was just a sadistic kidnapper and not Dr. Death, things would have been much clearer. Without the mention of the holocaust this movie would have been just a very sexually charged

        surrealistic dream like movie.

The one good thing about this movie is the amazing cast. They have cast some of the most unique and appealing actors in Hollywood- including: Josh Lucas, Jacqueline Bisset, Adam Brody and Lukas Haas (yes, that little boy from the witness!). They are all doing an exceptionally good job at portraying a very deep and complicated inner world the characters live in.

It’s not a bad movie to watch if you like sensual, slightly surrealistic movies like I do.
