  • I think more people would have been able to swallow this more easily if the site wasn't run like a concentration camp
  • This forum definitely has a groupthink code in place and has many cliques
  • I would advise anyone thinking about opening a subscription to avoid the outside topics other than hair and to take anything offered there lightly
  • Lastly, strongly consider implementing advice from someone who has been an active member on the board for years and hasn't shown any progress the entire time

I used to be be a paying member of this website and was so for about two years. The straw that broke the camel’s back had to do with member harassment and bashing. I would classify this site as one of the worst ones I have been a member of or had the pleasure of lurking on.

When I first joined, it was free to sign up and participate but was quickly going to change to a yearly subscription fee of $4.00. Within two years that price jumped to $6.00 with no extra benefits. Sure members get to view the

entire forum but there are no extra perks for giving to the owner. She and the administrator complained of an influx of traffic and said the money would offset the costs of running and keeping the site online. I think more people would have been able to swallow this more easily if the site wasn’t run like a concentration camp.

This forum definitely has a groupthink code in place and has many cliques. The moderators and the administrator openly play favorites and often join in on terrorizing members who do not confirm to the atmosphere of the board or who ...

      • clearly are different and walk to their own beat.

Longhaircareforum is very Stepford Wives like when it comes to who gets the most praise on the site. Yes most women who come there are looking to grow their hair. But if you do not have a certain type of hair or skin tone, you are shunned or made fun of in a passive-aggressive manner.

Another problem is long hair craze. Again, long hair is a common quest for the majority but some will stop at nothing to get it. They do not care if what they put on their heads

could potentially hurt them or the products are not even made for humans or has not been proven safe for the scalp.

I would advise anyone thinking about opening a subscription to avoid the outside topics other than hair and to take anything offered there lightly. Use common sense and cross reference what’s said on there. At all costs avoid bandwagons. Lastly, strongly consider implementing advice from someone who has been an active member on the board for years and hasn’t shown any progress the entire time.

There are sites out there with the same information without all the drama and insanity.
