Choosing a suitable medical book can be a daunting task for a first year medical student. One never knows what they ought to look for in a book, and the lecturers seem to recommend books because they wrote them or they know someone who wrote the book. Luckily, after a few conversations with other students, I found out that they recommended Tortora.
I felt this book was specifically written for first year
students. It integrates anatomy and physiology and never bombards the reader with too much detail (some of which you do not need at first year). I found it to be easier to use than Gray’s or Guyton & Hall whose details got in the way of my understanding. What i needed was the basic stuff.
