  • I go to Singapore once every so often and have to say that of all the budget airlines I have taken to Singapore, Air Philippines is the best
  • First of all, at promo fares that cost P3000 roundtrip, it’s a steal
  • Third, it is a lot more convenient in terms of schedule
  • My experience is that the flights leave on time, too
  • All in all, I would highly recommend taking Air Philippines if you’re looking for a budget flight to Singapore from Manila and back

Air Philippines is a budget airlines in the Philippines which is under Philippine Airlines. Late last year, it introduced a new route to Singapore by offering promotional fares. My friends and I were able to get round trip tickets for around P3000 (USD 70)each, exclusive of the P1620 travel tax and the P750 terminal fee.

Aside from Air Philippines, several other budget airlines offer flights from Manila to Singapore. I go to Singapore once every so often and have to say that of all the budget airlines I have taken to Singapore, Air Philippines is the best. First of all, at promo fares that cost P3000 roundtrip, it’s a steal. It’s normal

express deal fare is around P7000 (USD 163) round trip which is not so bad either, especially since it offers promo fares every now and then.

Second, although the services are still basic (no food, entertainment, etc.) the seats are so much more spacious than other budget airlines, it is like an economy class seat in Philippine Airlines. They provide good service though, by taking note who is eating snacks and serving water without being asked. The pilots, in comparison to other budget airlines are just as good and the aircraft seems reliable and not scary to travel in as well.

Third, it is a lot more convenient in terms of schedule. The other leading budget ...

      • airline offers daily flights to Singapore leaving at around past 8PM in the Philippines and arriving in Singapore around midnight, which wastes the whole day and instead gives you an additional night’s stay to pay for without being able to enjoy the day at all. It departs Singapore past midnight, and arrives in Manila around 5AM, which is a very unholy hour. Air Philippines’ daily flights to Singapore leave Manila at 4:40PM, and arrives in Singapore around 8PM, so you can still at least enjoy the night. It departs Singapore 8:50PM and arrives in Manila around midnight, so you can still have a decent sleep if you have work the next day. My experience is
that the flights leave on time, too.

Last but not the least, the main advantage of Air Philippines’ route to Singapore is that even if it is a budget terminal, it lands and departs from Changi airport in Singapore, not the budget terminal in Singapore. If you’ve been to both, you know how nice the Changi airport is, one of the best in the world, and how much a difference it makes landing there instead of the budget terminal. It departs and arrives from Manila’s Naia 3 terminal as well, which is the best terminal in Manila.

All in all, I would highly recommend taking Air Philippines if you’re looking for a budget flight to Singapore from Manila and back.
