I just came home from Destin. We went to Crab Island and it was amazing. This is located in the Destin Harbor near the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Bridge.

If you drive on that bridge you could see this on the left side if you are coming from Fort Walton. My friend rented a boat that could hold up 12 people but only 7 people came,so we had so much room in that boat.

We left the pier around 10:30, we decided to go around first to see the surroundings before stopping on the Crab Island. If you will drive your boat straight to the Island, it will take you less than 10 minutes to get there because it’s just right there, once you pass under the bridge the Crab Island is just there.

      When we left the

pier we saw a small Island on the left side which you could step on a sand and enjoy the sun while swimming if you chose to be there and do not fee like soaking in the water all the time. In Crab Island, you will be in the water all of the time.

The water is always shallow that ranges like 2-10 feet deep so you can jump in and anchored your boat for your shade. You can go around the Island and expect to have a lot of people in the water doing stuff like snorkeling, volley ball, kayaking, football, frisbee, surf board paddling, while some are drinking and some are enjoying their floaters while others just enjoys the music.

If you are worried about carrying your beer bottle or can of beer in the water ...

      • anywhere, there are can or bottle stand Holder vendors too, in where you can just put in your can or bottle on it while it is sticking on the sand because it is like a bamboo yard torch . This place is mostly like a water and boating party, which is really enjoyable to anyone,I have seen kids and even dogs can be there and they do not prohibit the liquors so you can bring how many as you wanted.

There are police around too, to keep the safety for everyone. In the place you will see boat vendors that sells drinks and foods like hamburgers, steam shrimps ,pizza and boiled peanuts and even Ice cream vendor on small kayak size boat, who goes around to sell ice cream bars.

Today, there was a concert on the boat

and some people bought their own beach chair so they could sit down and watch it,even if they are sitting in the water and I saw one group who bought a tent and just stick it to the sand for their shade while in the water. They also have a big air slide that you can enjoy for $8 per hour and some motor bike boat for $20 per hour.

The good time to be there is around 10 AM so you can find a good spot to anchored your boat and without worrying how to get out when it is already crowded. There are people who helps you out getting the way out, when you are ready to leave the Island.

I can’t wait to go back there again with family! This is a good place to go for summer!
