Battle Los Angeles is a decent film, not amazing, but certainly worth watching for anyone interested in the action genre.

Since I watched the disappointing “Monsters” a few months ago, BLA gave me hope for a good alien invasion picture. I was slightly disappointed I have to admit.

The story isn’t really gripping or that unique, it doesn’t interest you in the ways you haven’t been interested a thousand times before.

      The action

scenes are excellent though, as you would expect with a budget of $70 million. The “aliens” looked very good, and you could believe that they were genuinely going to take over the world.

The acting is nothing to brag about really, as with most action films nowadays it has taken a back seat to CGI. You don’t get to see much interaction between the characters before they’re off fighting with the ...

      • enemy again.

You’ll see Harvey Dent from “The Dark Knight” and Michelle Rodriguez in another butch role, and they were ok.

Although it looks like they tried to capture it with a couple of civilians caught up in the fighting, this film doesn’t really show much human emotion in terms of survival. It’s all about fighting and figuring out a way of tactically defeating the enemy, rather than a way of simple

        surviving.

In that sense I’d compare it to something such as “War of the Worlds”, where the emphasis is on the possibility of human extinction.

All in all, I’d recommend this to anyone who loves a good action flick and isn’t too bothered about anything else. If nothing else, the fight scenes will keep your interest until the end but it isn’t going to be for you if this isn’t an important factor.
