  • They did take some money off of the rental charge, but not enough to make me ever consider using Budget for a rental again (especially the Pleasanton, CA location)

We rented a 26 foot moving van and a vehicle trailer for a move from California to Washington. Budget was the closest rental location that had what we needed, and had a pretty competitive price, so we made the reservation with them.

We were supposed to pick the truck and trailer up at 7am Wednesday morning from the location in Pleasanton.

We were ready for the truck a little earlier than planned, so we called the office Tuesday morning to inquire about the possibility of picking the truck up early.

      The person we talked

to said he would check and call us back to let us know.

He called us back Tuesday early afternoon and said that the truck was there and available, and that we could go ahead and come pick it up.

When we were halfway there to get it, the same gentleman called us back to say that it wasn’t even there, it was at a different Budget location about 20 minutes further away, and that we could pick it up there if we wanted.

He said he would call them and let them know that ...

      • we were on our way, and notate the account in the computer.

We got there, and the people there knew absolutely nothing about it.

They finally got it figured out, and we got the truck, and were told the trailer would be at the Pleasanton location at 7am as originally scheduled.

Knowing the issues we had with the truck the day before, we called the Pleasanton office before heading in at about 8am to pick up the trailer to make sure it was good to go, and were told that the trailer wasn’t even

        there yet.

We waited around all day (delaying our departure by about five hours) and were finally called about 3pm and told that the trailer was there.

When we got there to pick it up, the taillights on it didn’t work, and they had to spend another 45 minutes fixing those (one of which stopped working about 1 hour into our 14 hour drive).

They did take some money off of the rental charge, but not enough to make me ever consider using Budget for a rental again (especially the Pleasanton, CA location)
