  • Now, if an issue goes wrong with the unit, you have difficulties discussing the issue due to a significant barrier of accents and English understanding since Dish has outsourced a large amount of work overseas
  • Technical support is all but non-existent with Dish pushing customers towards self-help troubleshooting (which 99% of the time cannot fix the problem) and then having 15-30 minute (average) hold times while trying to receive assistance

I’ve been a Dish Customer for several years, in three states, and between 4 houses. After having their service for almost an entire decade, I’m quite tired of it. I’m frequently asked for my opinion of Dish Network, considering I had for the longest time been a loyal customer. In the last couple years, be it management changes or some kind of marketing reason, Dish has seriously gone down hill.

Customer service calls use to be painless and simple. Now, if an issue goes wrong with the unit, you have difficulties discussing the issue due to a significant barrier

of accents and English understanding since Dish has outsourced a large amount of work overseas. Technical support is all but non-existent with Dish pushing customers towards self-help troubleshooting (which 99% of the time cannot fix the problem) and then having 15-30 minute (average) hold times while trying to receive assistance. I had to once wait over 2 hours to receive technical support during a busier time of the day which is entirely uncalled for an entertainment related business. In some instances, the representatives will even argue with you over the phone about the issue and the troubleshooting that is ...

      • being completed which belittles the customer significantly, especially painful in instances of extensive customer loyalty like my case.

I’ve had literally every single package that Dish Network offers, including the add-on movie channels and sports packages (particularly the NHL Center Ice and MLS Direct Kick packages) and have found many disappointing aspects of each. Many times I would have difficulty seeing certain sports games even with the packages, as some were blacked out in my area due to broadcasting restrictions (per the customer service representative). The movie channels are the generic Showtime, HBO and Cinemax options that are available

on basically all decent TV providers and I have no qualms with the actual channel packages offered.

The packages and options available through Dish, given, are alot better when compared to those offered by competitors like DirecTV. While Dish Network advertises low priced packages and great options available, they neglect to mention the horrendous customer service and technical support, combined with apparent lack of support for certain sports games depending on location (again, per the customer service representative). More so evident now than ever before, price seems to dictate quality. Low price equals low quality in Dish Networks book.

Very truthful review. I have apparently dealt with the same tech support people you have. My mother has DISH and I am the one who handles these problems for her. I am SERIOUSLY considering stopping the service and having NETFIX, HULU PLUS and local channels. What else do we need?
