  • I would also consider the vegetables to have a rubbery consistency as though they have been reheated several times
  • Overall, I would recommend this cafe to those wishing to enjoy an ice cream or a coffee, or to those who are free on a Wednesday evening and enjoy motorbikes

The Ferry Cafe in the coastal village of Knott-End-On-Sea sits in a picturesque spot overlooking the estuary of the River Wyre and Morecombe Bay. It is in the perfect location for day trippers who are visitng the area after a trip over the river on the local ferry or for walkers and cyclists who visit the area. However, the location is one of the few plus sides to this cafe.

The cafe is clean, but with its neutral d├ęcor looks

almost sterile- there is certainly very little atmosphere here. Also, although the staff are polite, there is little interaction with customers and the food often takes a while to arrive.

Although some of the food is home-made and prepared on request, much of the food is simply cooked or reheated on the site. I would liken the standard of the food to that of a transport cafe. I would also consider the vegetables to have a rubbery consistency as ...

      • though they have been reheated several times. The prices, however, do not reflect the standard of the food and are more comparable to prices of good quality restaurant food, rather than those of a cafe serving pies, chips and gravy. One positive to mention about the food here is that they do sell excellent ice cream which is made on a local farm.

On Wednesday evenings, the cafe has a motorbike night where they stay open late and motorcyclists congregate

outside the cafe. This is a time I often visit, not to eat, but to enjoy the spectacle of hundreds of bikes lined up along the promenade with my children. We also sample an ice cream whilst we are there.

Overall, I would recommend this cafe to those wishing to enjoy an ice cream or a coffee, or to those who are free on a Wednesday evening and enjoy motorbikes. Otherwise, I would say that the meals are not worth the money.
