I usually try to serve vegetables with dinner, but I really don’t put a lot of thought into preparing them. I usually focus more on the main entree. So more often than not, the vegetables I serve are pretty much ignored. I wanted to find some vegetable recipes that would serve as nice complements to my entrees and that my family would really enjoy, so I started researching recipes. I found a recipe for Sesame Honey Vegetable Casserole in the Favorite Brand Name Simple 1-2-3 One Dish cookbook that looked like it would

be easy to prepare, and it also seemed like a unique way to add some good flavor to vegetables that would usually be considered ordinary. So I decided to try the recipe one night when I was serving grilled steaks for dinner.

Here’s the ingredient list for Sesame Honey Vegetable Casserole:

1 package (16 ounces) of frozen mixed vegetables such as carrots, broccoli, onions and peppers, thawed and drained 3 tablespoons of honey 1 tablespoon of dark sesame oil 1 tablespoon of soy sauce 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds

      Here are the recipe directions:

First, preheat the oven to ...

      • 350 degrees and place the mixed vegetables in a shallow 1 1/2-quart casserole dish. Next, combine the honey, oil, soy sauce and sesame seeds and mix well. Drizzle evenly over the vegetables. Then, bake for 20 t0 25 minutes, or until vegetables are hot, stirring after 15 minutes.

I thought this vegetable casserole was the perfect side dish with my grilled steaks. The vegetables were very flavorful. The flavor wasn’t at all overwhelming, but seemed to bring out just the right combination of sweetness and salt in the vegetables. I was very

pleased that I had decided to try this recipe, because dinner that night was one of the first times anyone in my family had more than one serving of vegetables.

Overall, I thought this vegetable casserole was extremely easy to make, and it served the purpose I wanted it to serve. The recipe convinced my family that vegetables aren’t only just good for you, they can actually taste very good. The few simple ingredients in this recipe took my meal to a whole new level, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the dish. I’ll definitely be making Sesame Honey Vegetable Casserole again.
