I was searching the Internet for an easy cold salad recipe to make to take to a barbeque when I found this recipe for Twenty-Four Hour Salad. I found it on allrecipes.com, which seems to be a great resource for a variety of recipes. The salad looked very easy to make, and it also sounded very appetizing. I thought it would be perfect to take to a barbeque.

Here are the ingredients necessary to make Twenty-Four Hour Salad:

      6 cups

of shredded iceberg lettuce 1/2 cup of chopped celery 1/2 cup of chopped green bell pepper 1/2 cup of chopped onions 1/2 cup of frozen green peas, thawed and drained 1 1/2 cups of mayonnaise 2 tablespoons of white sugar 2 cups of shredded Cheddar cheese 1 can (3 ounces) of bacon bits

Here are the instructions to make the salad:

In a large transparent bowl, layer the lettuce, celery, bell peppers, onions, peas, mayonnaise, sugar and cheese. Next, sprinkle the bacon bits ...

      • evenly over the top of the salad. Finally, cover the bowl and refrigerate the salad for 24 hours before serving.

I thought this Twenty-Four Hour Salad recipe was extremely easy to prepare. I assembled my salad in less than 15 minutes, and I was especially pleased with how it looked. It was nice and colorful, and seemed perfect for an outdoor event. The final test was taking it to the barbeque to find out if everyone would

        like it.

The consensus was that the Twenty-Four Hour Salad was a success. I received several compliments and recipe requests. I really liked the combination of vegetables with the bacon and cheese. Overall, I thought the salad was crisp, creamy and refreshing. This recipe is definitely one of my new favorite salad recipes. Although I don’t think it really needed any additional ingredients, I think I may try adding broccoli and maybe some black olives the next time I make it. I highly recommend this recipe for any occasion.
