  • I loved both acting of James and Cameron here and it’s the first time I’ve seen them do a serious movie like this before, and their accents are just perfect here

Having seen the trailer on this one, I perked up instantly since it was quite an ethical scene – a couple could have a million dollars right away with just having to push a single button, but someone somewhere in the world, someone they don’t know is going to die. It’s a catchy scene and you immediately think - is this an assassination of someone, just a test and they’re really the Feds? Or is it real and you’re the next in this game?!

The movie stars the beautiful and talented Cameron Diaz and her husband also equally talented “Cyclops” James Marsden. Cameron is a professor here but she’s about to get laid

off because of the student budget, and James Marsden just didn’t make it as an astronaut in NASA supposedly because he failed just the psychological test.

As timing would have it, this guy Mr. Steward offers them a box with a push button that gives them the opportunity to have 1 million dollars (tax-free!) if they pushed it, the offer is good for only 24 hours, and somewhere someone in the world will die if they pushed the button. They contemplate this for 24 hours and 15 minutes shy of the deadline which was 5 pm, they decide on it and Cameron pushes the button since it was mostly her idea in ...

      • the first place. She says it could be someone on death row, a rapist , a murderer, and that’s her point, but James’ point was it could be someone’s mother, someone’s baby, but in the end James lets Cameron decide for them and she pushes the button.

They get the 1 million dollars after some time when Mr. Steward visits them again, but there are consequences to what they have done. They feel guilty and their conscience is bothering them and they just locked the money up and feel troubled for what they’ve done. It’s really a weird movie because it was set in 1976 and it’s got some sci-fi thing going on

here, I can’t really exactly say because it’d be a spoiler when reading this review but I suspected there was some sci-fi thing when all the other characters with cameo parts starts acting robotic and weird, and just as I suspected it’s how the story ends.

It’s not really a movie I’d go crazy for but at least it’s something that’s unique and not done before. I loved both acting of James and Cameron here and it’s the first time I’ve seen them do a serious movie like this before, and their accents are just perfect here. A nice movie that’s intriguing at the first but once you get to the middle it’s quite predictable.
