My husband purchased an Ion’s Double Lens Twin Video camcorder online at a bit over 100 dollars. He intended to use it to record videos of himself and things around him to upload to his blog. The reason that our old camcorder failed his demand was that he had to turn the device by both hands while shooting footage that needs to switch between himself narrating and the environment he’s reporting about. The result of the switching part was less desirable than he wanted.

The Ion’s Twin Video camcorder resolved the issue right away. There were two cameras installed on the device, one facing rear and one facing front. You only need to press the big button in the middle of the device

to switch between front video feed and rear video feed. My husband used it to interview my daughter for a testing, and the result was so unbelievably professional! The frames of himself and my daughter were flipped back and force so naturally that you felt that it was well edited! If you need to acquire a still shooting and set back from the camcorder, you can use its wired remote to control the switching and stand the camcorder on its own weighted grip.

You have to remember to insert its 2GB SD or your own SD into the camcorder before you record. It doesn’t have any embedded memory! You can format the SD card by clicking the Set/Delete button. There are another three ...

      • menu functions you can choose by clicking this button: 1. Turn on LEDs to light up your shooting area; 2. Set between NTSC and PAL TV systems; 3. Choose between 50Hz and 60Hz for Light frequency. You can also remove photos or movies from your SD card while playing them back on the device. The 3 x zoom button is quite easy to use as well. Simply press the “+” button to zoom in and “-“ button to zoom out.

The camcorder only support 640×480 VGA resolution video quality. There’s no HD in the picture. It’ll be sufficient for online video, blogging, or basic personal needs. If you’re after high quality picture, professional shooting result, this might fall under your expectation. There’s

a 2.4-inch LCD playback screen right below the two cameras. You can switch video streams by pressing a You/Me button, which could help you to easily review the effect of your various video streams right away.

The not-so-good side of the device is that its built-in microphone does not catch voice tones evenly. I was trying to plug in our own microphone to the device to improve voice recording, only found out it doesn’t have mic jack at all. Another below-standard design defect of this device is the way it offloads videos to computer or other storage device. You have to use a cable to connect to computer to transfer your video files instead of using a USB storage device to copy over.
