My 2-year-old son loves Timmy Time. I think he can relate to Timmy, who is always full of ideas and is brimming with energy. One particular episode that he likes is Timmy Wants the Blues. In this episode, Timmy decides that he only likes things that are blue. He would only play with the blue ball and blue train in the beginning. During snack time, he maneuvered his way such that he could sit on the blue cushion

and drink from the blue cup. However, his plan backfired during art time, since he could not paint anything nice with only the color blue. His friends help him and he eventually was able to paint a pretty picture using several colors.

The good points in this episode are: 1) It teaches children about colors. My son already knows the colors and watching this episode lets him remember them. He would identify the colors as Timmy used them later ...

      • in the episode.

        2) It identifies interestingly a possible phase that a child could go through - that of choosing to use just one color. As a first-time parent I got to realize that children do get ideas like that sometimes, and it is good to just let their ideas run their course.

        3) It teaches children to share. In the later part of the episode, Timmy’s friends each shared his paintbrush with him, so that he could

        paint with other colors.

What I didn’t like in this episode was that Timmy tends to manipulate some of his friends. In this episode it was Paxton the Pig whom he lured away from the blue cushion with food. It might send some weird ideas to kids that things like that can be done to their classmates. It is a minor thing only though so I am not stressing over it. I still let my son watch Timmy Time over and over again.
