As a budding guitarist I had recently went to the local music store to purchase a new amplifier and after trying several brands and models I settled on the Fender G-Dec for $250(Canadian). I will break this review into four sections; features, sound, durability and a closing statement.

Features-Where to begin in this department? It has a very strong nylon carrying strap as well as 49 pre-sets each one different and unique that can also be modified to your desire. There are tones and settings for almost any genre out there including but not limited to Rock, Metal, Reggae

and Punk. One of the most interesting features has to be the pre-set drums and bass which coincide with each setting. Though not advertised you will recognize some signature drum and bass tracks from such bands as Led Zeppelin, Nirvana and even the late Michael Jackson. Another very useful feature is the built-in guitar tuner which is incredibly simple to use. There are 2 input jacks on this amplifier giving it the capability to be used by 2 guitars at once as while as a MIDI jack where an Mp3 player or keyboard could be plugged in. You ...

      • are also able to record a short clip of your guitar playing with the recording feature.

Sound-I use my 1962 Fender Jaguar with this amplifier and it sounds great on almost any setting from the clean to the Metal setting. I prefer to play Heavy Metal and need a tight distortion sound and this amp hasn’t let me down nor has it let me down when playing jazz or bluegrass. The only negative aspect is the volume. It is not made for gigging or even jamming with a drum set but for personal use it can’t be beat.

        Durability-Having owned

this amp for about 2 months now I can say it is built well. It has fell a few times and aside from the setting changing knob cracking it still works perfectly. Unlike a lot of other amplifiers this one doesn’t not have a protective grill on the front to protect the speaker, so it can be susceptible to punctures.

Closing Statement- In conclusion, this is a perfect amplifier for any guitar player amature or professional. With it’s huge number of pre-sets and sounds it will keep you playing through the night though you will not be playing gigs with it.
