  • First off, the show is really, really amazing
  • At first, I thought it was going to be hard to follow along, because I was watching story lines on five different characters at once, but the shows cast and crew pulled everything together nicely and rounded everything off
  • I love him even more in this show because not only is he an awesome gladiator, but the story makes you fall in love with his character from the very beginning, and made me personally cheer for him through the whole series
  • I would highly recommend watching this show from the very beginning, and grab a big bowl of popcorn, because once you start watching, you won't want to stop

I recently started watching a wonderful show on Starz called Spartacus: Blood and Sand, and I want to share with you my thoughts and views on the show. First off, the show is really, really amazing. I have been drawn in since the moment I started watching it, and it is one of those shows that make you want to sit there and watch the episodes back to back, hoping they never end. Parents beware, even though the show is cool and really well done, the shows subject matter deals with gladiators in Roman times, and in any fighting scene, there are very graphic special effects.

You can tell that these are computer generated, but they would still be disturbing to a child. I have seen everything from a gladiator getting his throat cut, to getting his head chopped off, to being stabbed in the mouth with a sword. These things are only bad

if you have children, and I don’t advise you to let them watch.

These things are really cool if you are an action and blood and guts junkie. The show itself is very well written, and there are a lot of story lines involving politics, sex, and revenge throughout the show. At first, I thought it was going to be hard to follow along, because I was watching story lines on five different characters at once, but the shows cast and crew pulled everything together nicely and rounded everything off.

Another wonderful thing about the show is the cast in itself. I had seen Andy Whitfield in a movie called Gabriel and I loved him in it. I love him even more in this show because not only is he an awesome gladiator, but the story makes you fall in love with his character from the very beginning, and made me personally cheer for ...

      • him through the whole series.

He has cancer in real life now, and sadly won’t be returning to the show when it resumes. John Hannah is another actor I knew about before when he played the brother in The Mummy, so I was really excited to see him play a role where he wasn’t a wimpy, whiny brat. His character in Spartacus: Blood and Sand is extremely headstrong and mean and political and does whatever it takes to get what he wants.

There are many other notable actors on this show, too many to name, but I will say that every single one of them brings something extra to the show, whether you love their characters or hate them. The one major downside to the show for me was the language that is spoken on the show. They speak English but I guess they are trying to imitate how people would have talked back

        in those days.

It’s OK, but after 13 episodes, that are an hour long each, it gets a little old trying to keep up with the politics of the show and you start to hope they will just show a battle scene. The fight scenes in the Arenas on this show are just amazing, and some of the coolest most violent I have ever seen. There were some fights that were just so amazing, I literally stood up and started cheering.

Again, they are very violent bloody scenes, but really cool. So overall, I would rate this show a 10 out of 10 for action and storyline,10 out of 10 for the blood and guts, 8 out of 10 for the language of the show, and 10 out of 10 for the characters. I would highly recommend watching this show from the very beginning, and grab a big bowl of popcorn, because once you start watching, you won’t want to stop!
