Zac Efron have totally leveled up as he portrayed the role of Charlie St. Cloud in the 2010 movie with the same title, “Charlie St. Cloud”. His portrayal of the role was way too far from the teenage High School Musical, Wild Cats Basketball Captain star.

Directed by Burr Steers and produced by Marc Platt and Ben Sherwood, the movie evolves on Charlie’s undying love to his brother, Sam [played Charlie Tahan]. The movie starts with a sailing competition of which Charlie and Sam won the race. Charlie received a sailing scholarship for Stanford university. After graduating in high school, he spent the beginning of summer with practicing baseball with Sam. He promised to help Sam practice baseball every

day before he goes to Stanford and it’s every sunset when the canon of Boston Yacht’s Club sounds.

But everything changed in just one night. Charlie was supposed to attend a graduation party but instead, his mother told him to watch over his brother Sam. Charlie tried to sneak out but Sam caught him and he was forced to bring Sam with him but they got into a car accident which took Sam’s life. Before the rescue, Sam clinged to Charlie and asked him to never leave him. A paramedic revived Charlie and he sobbed in horror when he saw Sam lying next to him, dead. Sam died in his arms.

During the funeral, Charlie run away from the ...

      • funeral after hearing the sound of the cannon. He run into the woods and found Sam’s spirit. He found out that he can interact with spirits and can have physical contact with them. He gave up his Stanford scholarship as well as his sailing career. and mourned for Sam’s loss. He moved away from home and took a job as a cemetery caretaker in the cemetery where Sam was buried and continued to practice baseball with Sam every sunset. as well as interacting with other spirits in the cemetery. It was his life in five years after Sam’s death.

He met Tess Carroll[played by Amanda Crew], who was his opponent in sailing and high school classmate before. His friendship

with Tess which soon turned into love changed everything. He started becoming late on their baseball practice. And then one day, he just found Tess waking up in the cemetery next to her father’s grave with cuts and bruises.

Days later, Charlie found out that Tess was already missing for how many days already including the day he found her in the cemetery. It was then that he learned that Tess went out for sailing and took the route with storm.

In search for Tess, Charlie had to chose between Sam and Tess.

Generally, the movie is a tear-jerking one. The type that would really make you think of reality versus not and the unconditional love between brothers. Definitely, a must watch movie.
