  • I found the sister, while she was under the influence of the troll, to be obnoxious and couldn’t really stand watching her
  • Unless you are in the mood to watch a film where the scariest and eeriest part is the troll and what he looks like, I would not recommend this film

The 1986 film “Troll” is in one word, eerie. Now, being used to the creepy and spooky bump in the night films of the modern day, movie lovers may wonder what a 1986 movie may hold in the eerie department compared to a movie of today. But it’s the makeup and effects that look realistic, not at all done on a computer, that give this movie a sort of spooky vibe. Aside from that, the plot was not very engaging and the acting

      was only mediocre.

In this film, a young boy moves into an apartment building with his family. His sister happens upon this secret entrance to another world in the basement and becomes the victim of an evil troll. The troll passes as the girl in order to blend in to the new world he has stumbled upon and wishes to claim as his own, and only the girl’s brother knows that it’s not his sister but an evil troll. Throughout the story, the ...

      • troll tries to transform the occupants of the apartment building into creatures of his fairy world, while the boy tries and finds a way to stop him.

When viewers sees the trolls real face, that is where the eeriness sets in. His face is so well done with makeup that it sends a chilly sort of vibe up the viewer’s spine. That alone is the only factor in what makes this film eerie. Aside from what he transforms the apartment occupants into, which

can be graphic at parts, the story really held no real engaging factor. I found the sister, while she was under the influence of the troll, to be obnoxious and couldn’t really stand watching her. The brother, didn’t really seem like he was all too keen on being the hero and fainted numerous times throughout the film.

Unless you are in the mood to watch a film where the scariest and eeriest part is the troll and what he looks like, I would not recommend this film.
