  • The last time I bought some earplugs, they worked well, but were a little uncomfortable in my ears after wearing them for several hours
  • I was planning on attending a concert which would definitely be high on the decibel scale, so I decided to try these ear plugs, which are made for smaller ear canals
  • Since the others were making my ears feel like they were being expanded like a balloon, I thought maybe these would be more comfortable to wear for several hours without being distracting
  • After an hour, I still had no discomfort, and although the sound blocking might not have been quite as effective as the larger plugs, it was definitely enough to protect my ears from the concert and probably most other loud events
  • I would definitely recommend these for anyone who needs to block loud noises like music or machinery for ear safety, but if you want something to block noise completely, you might want to use the regular size

I occasionally use earplugs when I have a valid reason to. I am a musician and try to preserve my hearing, since my ears have taken some abuse in the past, leaving me with a slight case of tinnitus. At home, I use white noise to help me sleep and block out other noises, but this is not always an option if I travel.

      made for smaller ear canals.

Since the others were making my ears feel like they were being expanded like a balloon, I thought maybe these would be more comfortable to wear for several hours without being distracting. The box comes with ten pair, so I put two in my purse, along with one pair of the old ones, just in case these new ones did not block the sound well enough.

Once the music started, I put the slim pair in and found that they fit perfectly. They have a smooth texture, and go into the ear canal very easily.

After an hour, I still had no discomfort, and although the sound blocking ...

      • might not have been quite as effective as the larger plugs, it was definitely enough to protect my ears from the concert and probably most other loud events. I was very pleased with their performance.

The next time I used them was at home, when we had a house guest who snored like nothing I have ever heard. Even from the other room, my white noise was not enough to block it out.

I put in a pair of these, and although they did help quite a bit, I could still hear the snoring enough to keep me awake. I tried the old large pair, and they actually helped enough

that I was able to tolerate the snoring until morning– or would have, had I not had to take them out a few hours later because my ears hurt.

I don’t know if it is the diameter of the ear plug, or the material they are made with that makes the difference, but it seems I have to have either comfort, or performance, and not both. I would definitely recommend these for anyone who needs to block loud noises like music or machinery for ear safety, but if you want something to block noise completely, you might want to use the regular size.

Perhaps there is a good compromise somewhere, but I have not found it yet.
