  • The new races and their respective starting zones are extremely well designed and are both original and entertaining, and the redesign of some of the Old World (Pre level-60) zones means that they offer a more enjoyable experience due to more exciting characters and quests
  • I thought these were very engaging, and offered more challenge than the Wrath of the Lich King ones did, with more mechanics to boss fights and generally having people pay more attention
  • Overall, I think that this is a very well designed expansion and is probably one of Blizzard's finest

World Of Warcraft: Cataclysm is the third and latest expansion for the hugely popular MMORPG World of Warcraft. It is based in a fantasy setting where you play as a character online and interact with other people and the world around you.

Cataclysm includes several new features: -The level cap has been increased to level 85 -You can play as two new races

(Worgen and Goblin) -New profession (Archaeology) -New zones, quests, dungeons and raid content

I personally really enjoyed Cataclysm. The new “phasing” system implemented by Blizzard allows each and every person to feel more involved within the storyline and gameplay while questing. The new races and their respective starting zones are extremely well designed and are both original and entertaining, and the redesign of some of the Old World (Pre level-60) zones means that they offer a more enjoyable experience due to more exciting characters and quests. The quests within the new 80-85 zones are very different from before,

      • and range from partaking in an undersea battle to blowing up a castle from an airship.

When a player achieves level 85, they get access to 7 new dungeons (and 2 classics revamped as a 5-man heroic dungeon), along with 4 new raids (1 VoA style raid and 3 entry level raids). I thought these were very engaging, and offered more challenge than the Wrath of the Lich King ones did, with more mechanics to boss fights and generally having people pay more attention!

The majority of the game is based around the highest level, so don’t

be put off if you find that there is not much to do at the lower levels, because trust me, you’ll be very busy when you reach level 85!

Overall, I think that this is a very well designed expansion and is probably one of Blizzard’s finest. The game is more exciting than ever, and offers a whole new level of content for the playerbase to slug through. Each aspect of the game feels like a lot of time has been spent on perfecting it, and the flaws are extremely scarce if non-existent. A brilliant addition to the World of Warcraft series, a must-buy!
