Curious George “Pinata Party” by Marcy Goldberg Sacks is a children’s book based on the animated series “Curious George” on PBS. It’s a level one reading book which a great for beginning readers, and the book is based on a particular “Curious George” episode.

Curious George “Pinata Party” by Marcy Goldberg Sacks is about when Curious George attends Betsy’s birthday party, and there he discovers a paper animal hanging which Betsy informs him

that it’s a pinata. George decides he wants to try hitting the pinata and is unaware that he will be blindfolded during the process.

George tries again and again to hit the pinata but it’s no use; one of George’s friends suggests that he follows Charkie to get a better handle on his senses. As a result, George ends up following Charkie throughout the city: the city’s fire station, a baker’s kitchen, through the ...

      • local city’s park, and back to Betsy’s party. After following Charkie around the city using his senses, George feels comfortable about using his senses to hit the pinata again. He tries again and he hits the pinata causing all of the candy to fall to the ground.

Overall, Curious George “Pinata Party” by Marcy Goldberg Sacks was exactly like the episode I came across on the television show “Curious George”. I found the book

to be quite long for a beginning reader’s book; however, I think kids who read this book and familiar with the series will not mind the length. The illustrations resemble the show down to the dog, Charkie. Familiar characters from the show are in the book, and there are learning activities in the back of the book which have to do with senses. It’s definitely a great learning book for children to explore their senses.
