  • Though Vampire Weekend truly is not a difficult band to get into, assuming a listener would start with their debut album, A-Punk does offer one of the most accessible tracks of the band and I would certainly recommend it as a starting point to at least give some type of idea and representation of what the band is basically like

A-Punk is a song by Vampire Weekend which appears on their self-titled debut record. As with more Vampire Weekend songs, the track opens up with a very light-hearted guitar riff which simply radiates with feelings of youthfulness and playfulness.

The vocals soon come in with the first verse and the vocal tone also gives off these exact same characteristics, the vocals and the music and perfectly in synch with each other as far as the tone

      they each give off.

The track soon transitions into the chorus section which goes into a more experimental sounding section, but still maintains this youthful sound as well.

What I really like about A-Punk is that it’s able to maintain this youthful sound to it, but not to the point to where it just doesn’t sound like very well developed music or anything.

I will admit that this track doesn’t have anything musically which simply blows ...

      • me away, but it certainly fulfills its job of being an extremely accessible track and one which is difficult not to enjoy.

what the band is basically like.

Structurally and musically simple, A-Punk doesn’t blow me away in terms of songwriting, but it does easily make the point that the members of Vampire Weekend are certainly capable of writing songs with catchy melodies which are hard not to start nodding along to and really enjoying by the end of the track.

If you’re not familiar with Vampire Weekend, but would like to hear some catchy music, I’d certainly recommend A-Punk.
