  • The song opens up with a section that I consider to sound very dream-like due to the heavy use of synthesizers and the very laid back rhythm created by the drums
  • However, the song still feels as if it lacks direction in my opinion and I still don’t hear it having a definite direction
  • Though Yorke picks up his vocal delivery, the music behind him is still relatively slow and lacking in direction, so the full problem isn’t yet solved
  • I would certainly not recommend this song for a listener trying to get into Radiohead simply because it’s slightly slow paced and lacks direction until it almost finishes
  • I will admit that towards the end of the song, the track finally picks up and actually moves somewhere, but a listener has to get through the first three minutes of relatively boring music in order to get to this section, if Radiohead had managed to have this section significantly earlier, the song would’ve been much better

All I Need is a song by Radiohead which appears on their 2007 release, In Rainbows. The song opens up with a section that I consider to sound very dream-like due to the heavy use of synthesizers and the very laid back rhythm created by the drums.

Yorke comes in with the first verse which is delivered in the same

laid-back tone as the rest of the song so the sound of a dream still sticks throughout this section as well.

Thankfully, Yorke does slightly pick up his vocal delivery after about a minute and a half into the song, because if he did not, I would certainly say that the song moved incredibly slowly and seemed as if it were going nowhere.

However, the song still feels as if it lacks direction in my opinion and I still don’t hear it having a definite direction.

Though Yorke picks up his vocal delivery, the music behind him is still relatively slow and lacking in direction, so the full problem isn’t yet solved.

I would certainly not recommend this song for ...

a listener trying to get into Radiohead simply because it’s slightly slow paced and lacks direction until it almost finishes.

I will admit that towards the end of the song, the track finally picks up and actually moves somewhere, but a listener has to get through the first three minutes of relatively boring music in order to get to this

section, if Radiohead had managed to have this section significantly earlier, the song would’ve been much better.

Though I wouldn’t recommend this to a new listener, if you’re already familiar with Radiohead, this is a song to at least give a chance because you’ll be familiar with how some Radiohead songs move rather slow, but do eventually reach a much better part.
