  • I never saw pheasant before in a canned cat food (or any cat food) but I know my cats like bird meat so I was willing to try it
  • I think after long years of eating various ground pate type cat foods they are tired of that stuff and am searching for something different, like real meat
  • I found this food at my local natural food pet store and I haven’t seen it at any of the other local pet stores in my area
  • The better quality pet foods always cost more than the foods in your supermarket, but then they are better for your pet, too

This was the first flavor by Evanger’s that I tried on my two cats. I never saw pheasant before in a canned cat food (or any cat food) but I know my cats like bird meat so I was willing to try it. So were my cats and I am happy to report that they both cleaned their plates. I had split the 5.5 ounce can in half, giving half to each cat. The food inside the can looked like real meat, too, which is a big plus

in my book. I think after long years of eating various ground pate type cat foods they are tired of that stuff and am searching for something different, like real meat. Evanger’s Holistic Pheasant fits the bill perfectly.

This food is not exactly grain free as it contains brown rice, but I really didn’t see any in the can that I opened, although I suppose it and the other ingredients must have been in there somewhere. Some of the other ingredients are stuff like berries, tomato paste and ...

      • carrots but it must be chopped so finely that I didn’t even see it. Meat is the number one ingredient here in a major way, which was very clear from the beginning. Nor did my cats hesitate eating this: they dove right in and actually ate all of it. That was surprising, as lately my older cat has been very finicky with food and doesn’t know what he wants to eat, turning down brand after brand. I think he’s searching for some real meat, so it’s great that
I found some real meat in a food that he loves that also contains the vitamins that he needs.

I found this food at my local natural food pet store and I haven’t seen it at any of the other local pet stores in my area. The downside, of course, is the price. The better quality pet foods always cost more than the foods in your supermarket, but then they are better for your pet, too.

I rate this food a “10” as it is both healthy and my cats loved it.
