  • Lobster is my favorite food and I truly believe that I had never tasted lobster the way it was meant to be enjoyed until I tried it at the Summer Shack
  • I can't explain exactly what spices and flavors they put onto it, but trust me, it is absolutely to die for and the best thing I have ever tasted in my twenty three years on this planet
  • However, I really enjoy the incredibly casual atmosphere and find it to be absolutely perfect because I know I am paying for the finest seafood as opposed to unnecessary pretentiousness
  • The lobster bisque is creamy, has amazing color to it and filled with plenty of chunks of sweet lobster meat

I absolutely love the Summer Shack, it is one of my all time favorite restaurants, if not my favorite restaurant. My boyfriend and I actually drive from Long Island to Ucantsville, Connecticut and stay at Mohegan Sun, just to eat dinner at the Summer Shack and spend the evening together away from home, but not too far away. We were there for dinner in November for my birthday, as we were for my birthday last year as well. The only downside I can think of is that the one in Mohegan Sun closes at 11 PM, which I find to be incredibly early. However, the one in Boston is open until 2 AM, so I suppose their closing time is determined by the casino and they have no control over it.

The Summer Shack knows how to make a lobster. Lobster is my favorite food and I truly believe that I had never tasted lobster the way it was meant to be enjoyed until I tried it at the Summer Shack. You can choose to have your lobster

prepared in a myriad of ways, wood grilled, clam baked, roasted, or my personal favorite, Jasper Style. Jasper Style lobster is prepared with the lobster actually opened and flavored with tons of flavor and spice. I can’t explain exactly what spices and flavors they put onto it, but trust me, it is absolutely to die for and the best thing I have ever tasted in my twenty three years on this planet. The prices are reasonable considering the fact that you are getting super, super fresh seafood. A 2 lb. Jasper Style lobster costs around $58, depending on the current market price. A 2 lb. wood grilled lobster costs around $50. The prices are very comparable to Legal Seafoods. If you do not want to pay for excellent, fresh seafood then go to Red Lobster.

The atmosphere at the Summer Shack is incredibly laid back, fun and relaxing. This place is very unpretentious. Some people complain because they are spending $100 on dinner for two and eating off of a paper tablecloth in a place where they offer ...

      • free balloons and tee shirts for sale in a souvenir shop. However, I really enjoy the incredibly casual atmosphere and find it to be absolutely perfect because I know I am paying for the finest seafood as opposed to unnecessary pretentiousness.

You know that the seafood is fresh due to the fact that they have their own marina outside and because the menu is constantly changing in accordance with what is currently available fresh. There are always a myriad of specials written on a board out front. They also play great music, which may sound odd, but they play some classic rock that I really enjoy but had forgotten how much I enjoyed it until I heard it again while enjoying an outrageous lobster at the Shack. The service is great too. There was one incident in which my Jasper style lobster was burnt, it had been left on too long and the edges were a little too singed for my liking. The manager actually came over to my table and gave me a myriad of options in

regard to what he could do in order to satisfy me. He gave me options and was willing to do whatever would make me most happy. He said that he could make me another one, make me something else at no additional charge, take half price off of the one I already had, etc. I was very surprised that he was willing to let me choose what I would like to do.

My boyfriend and I always start out with one lobster bisque soup and one new england clam chowder and we share a little of each. I am partial to the lobster bisque personally, due to the fact that I am a lobster fanatic. The lobster bisque is creamy, has amazing color to it and filled with plenty of chunks of sweet lobster meat. My boyfriend also always orders a dozen Blue Point oysters. I don’t know anything about oysters and I don’t partake in the enjoyment of the oysters, but he seems to really, really love them. If I could rate the Summer Shack at 11, I would.
