My boyfriend and I got the regular family share as our first CSA experience from Farmer Dave’s in Dracut MA with our pick up location at Groundwork Lawrence. We absolutley loved the CSA! We got more than enough vegetables every week to feed 2 adults dinner and lunch all week.

Farmer Dave’s uses organic methods and is very local to where we live (Methuen)which are two of the reasons we chose it.

They also give you two options when picking it

up, choose your own or pre-packaged.

I loved the choose your own because they had a swap box at the end that you could switch out the vegetables that are not your favorite for the ones that are.

In a typical share we received two heads of lettuce and/or greens, ranging from boston lettuce, chard, kale, spinach, romaine, red leaf lettuce, and more, a bunch of beets (about 6 medium size beets), a bunch of radishes (a bunch of 6-8 small/medium ...

      • radises), corn (anywhere from 6-10 ears), summer squash and/or zuccini (2-3 per week), green bell peppers (2-3), tomatoes (anywhere from 6-8, and from roma to cherry), basil (large bunch), and various other vegetables that rotated throughout the season (potatoes, golden beets, peas, green beans, yellow beans, cranberry beans, and broccoli to name a few).

The CSA somewhat forced us into being vegetarians from all of the vegetables that we recieved.

This was a very good thing for us! We also had

to be creative in the dinner we chose to incorporate all of the new vegetables we got every week.

We liked it so much we already signed up for next season (MAY-SEPT/OCT).

Next season we are going to do the fruit share as well since we saw all of the awesome fruit but coulnd’t have any of it.

We have also been a part of a different CSA (non-Farmer Dave’s) for the winter and are less impressed.

Overall best food decision we made!
