This is a review of an LG Rumor 2 on the Bell network.

I have been using this phone over the last six months and am not impressed with it. It’s basically everything you would expect from a budget phone.

Firstly, the camera is garbage. It’s difficult to take acceptable pictures with it. The worst part is that after it makes the shutter noise, there is lag between when the picture is actually taken. This often leads to blurry photos, which suck. You’ll be focusing on taking a picture, the shutter sound will trigger, and

then you’ll move the camera only to find a truly mediocre shot. The camera is no good. This may or may not be an issue, depending on whether you own another camera.

Next, the keyboard. This is really what the phone is all about. The keyboard is solid and feels good. The buttons are tactile and work well. I can text very quickly on this keyboard, and it just feels natural after a while. This is probably the only thing about this phone that is not mediocre.

The user interface is passable. It’s ...

      • pretty bland, nothing really to see here. It’s just a square menu, in an ugly navy blue color. The d-pad responds well, but the menus are really nothing special whatsoever.

The call quality is mediocre. It can be difficult to hear what the other caller is saying and it often lags. This may be part of the Bell network or a problem with the handset itself. The calling is not good, but this phone was really just made for messaging.

The phone feels relatively solid, the body is nothing to be impressed by. It’s

pretty average build quality and none of the buttons or flaps have given in to my abuse. The screen is unreasonably small. Nowadays, I, along with many others, would expect a much larger screen.

This phone is generally bland. It’s a decent choice for teenagers who will only use it for messaging, but I myself will soon be ditching it and picking up another handset. I would NOT recommend this phone for anyone other than children or teenagers looking for a cheap, basic handset to use for messaging. There are better options out there.
