Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg have teamed up again to create an almighty, action-packed, drama filled blockbuster sequel to the Transformers (2007). A must-see for all fans of the first movie, Transformers: Revenge of the fallen has is a sure to be one of the greatest action–packed films as of yet.

Set two years later from the first film, Sam discovers a splinter (before going to college) in the house which causes a fire. The splinter is linked to the ancient Dynasty of Primes. He starts seeing symbols but doesn’t know what they are and why they are happening. He has a mental breakdown during one of his classes and this leads to another college student, Alice (a deception in disguise) to make strong, affectionate advances on him.

Meanwhile, Optimus Prime leads a special unit’s team known as NEST to hunt down the remaining Deceptacons on Earth. He and his team of Autobots and US and British troops are in Shanghai where they destroy two Deceptacons but without first being given a warning that

      the Fallen will rise.

Back at College, Sam immediately calls Mikaela (who has captured a Deceptacon attempting to steal the splinter) for her to meet him at the college. Once she arrives there, she and Sam discover Alice is a Deceptacon in disguise. She begins to attack Sam but eventually Mikaela smashes her car into her. They are then captured by another Deceptacon attempting to extract the symbols from Sam’s mind. Optimus and Bumblebee arrive just in time to rescue him. Optimus engages in battle with three Deceptacons (including Starscream and Megatron) while bumblebee takes Mikaela and Sam’s roommate Leo away to safety. Optimus fights bravely but dies after Megatron Impales him.

The autobots arrive shortly afterwards and Starscream and Megatron retreat.

Now that Prime is dead, the Fallen seeks Sam in order to active the sun Harvester which was forbidden to be used by the ancient Primes on planets supporting life.

Sam and Mikaela recruit former sector 7 Agent Simmons in an attempt to find someone to decipher the symbols Sam’s been ...

      • seeing.

They are lead into a desert where one of the pyramids hides the matrix of leadership in which Sam seeks to destroy the Fallen and save Earth. But Megatron and the Deceptacons arrive and the battle for Earth begins.

In contrast with the first film, the producers have added a new character Leo Spitz who is portrayed by Ramon Rodriguez. Spitz is portrayed as computer geek and insists that the alien robots (Autobots) exist even though; no one is supposed to know. Rodriguez was an exceptional in my opinion and he did portay Leo very well.

Returning characters portrayed by Shia Lebouf and Megan Fox play Sam and Mikaela who are the main protagonists and again it’s up to Sam Save Earth from the Fallen and his Deceptacons.

Bay and Spielberg have combined both fantastic lighting effects with superb sound effects to create a vivid motion picture on screen. The booming sound used for the battle scenes between the Autobots and Deceptacons is highly appropriate and is undoubtedly one of the best uses of

the effect. The lighting entices the viewers into following the plot thus enhancing the viewer experience.

The film was a big hit in the box office coming in with a gross revenue of approximately $800 million. It was huge success as its budget was only $200 million. That means that people who went to see the film, were not all Transformers fans thus meaning that this film was just exceptional in all forms.

One of the only turn downs of the film is that if the viewers themselves haven’t seen the first film, the plot is difficult to understand at first but as the story unfolds it eventually becomes clear.

In retrospect, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is an epic action-packed blockbuster which was huge success at the box office. Full credits for the success of the film, easily goes to the Producers, Bay and Spielberg. The main cast also have done well in their acting abilities. Not to be forgotten is Peter Cullen who voices Optimus Prime. I rate the film 8/10 stars based on the excellent use of special effects and storyline.
