Off of the new self titled album by Stone Temple Pilots, theres a track that I favor the most on this album. It’s the fifth track of this album called Dare if You Dare. This song is has a moderate tempo feel with a little bit of blues influence. It begins with a chord progression that interchanges and then transitions into a guitar and a mini moog piano riff that are pretty much identical to each other.

I like it because Scott’s vocals blended with these combinations give it a sound almost like the Beatles especially with the synth sounds.

I like his sustained notes during the chorus because they are very melodic and the harmonization with the back up vocals which Scott weiland doubles in the studio in a different range usually. They are pretty catchy and they are still stuck in my head. During the bridge, it kind of repeats the dare ...

      • if you dare part sung by the back up vocals while Scott sing’s a couple lines that lead into the solo.

The solo has a lot of blues influence and has a great classic tone. Deleo’s unique phrasing really takes hold especially during the end of the solo. After the solo it repeats the chorus and then it fades out with the bridge part of the song. Although this song is probably one of the most repetitive

songs on the track I just love the guitar licks played throughout the verses and the chord progressions. Scott’s vocals are also very inspiring and laid back on this one. If you ever get the chance, I recommend this new album even if your’e not a Stone Temple Pilots fan. It blends a lot of genres such as folk classic rock blues and alternative, but there is still that classic Stone Temple Pilots sound in all the songs.
