Shanghai is one of the largest cities in China. It can be a great place to visit and see the core of China. There is a large International Airport located in Pudong. The great thing about the airport is that there is English writing as well, this can be extremely helpful for people who do not speak Chinese. The brilliant things about visiting China is most importantly, seeing how this country works. It is so different from many other places, I know for a fact it is a completely different universe to Australia.

It is interesting to see everybody having black hair, riding bikes on the street and massive amounts of people. It is a fantastic learning experience. The shopping in Shanghai would be connivent. Because the place is so big, you can find shops in almost every street. Walk down the road and you’ll find three shops selling breakfast.

Walk 5 minutes down and you’ll find a street full of shops where you can buy anything you want. No need to take transport to buy

food or other shopping. The downside of this city being so spread out and wide is that if you do have a destination to visit, it can take some time. At one stage, we caught three buses to go somewhere that we have never been to, and got extremely worn out. A little warning for people who do not like to be crowded, Shanghai has the one of the population and in every street, you would see people.

The buildings are all tall, which is where people live. There are no houses, because there are too many people. You would see more people in one hour in Shanghai than in one year in Australia. To visit China, especially in Shanghai, choosing the right time is extremely important. If you are going on a vacation hoping to have a great time, go in Autumn or Spring.

Do not even think about going there in Winter or Summer, because you’ll either spend the entire holidays sick with 10 flu, or so hot that you cannot be bothered to ...

      • do anything. China unfortunately has extreme weather patterns and is not a good place to be when it is extremely hot or cold. During Summer, the temperature can get so hot and humid that you cannot even live one minute outside, and winter is so cold that you need several coats just to keep warm. Go around September, it would be the absolute best time. Some things to be aware of in Shanghai, if you do not speak Chinese, make sure you know where you are going, and what your plan is.

The majority of people speak either Shanghainese or Mandarin. Foreigners should be very careful of scams in China. Taxi drivers are extremely evil that they will deliberately take people the long way so they get more money. The problem with China is that population is too high and everyone is wanting to earn more money. Also be very aware that if you do not plan to buy something in a shop, do not walk in there because the people will not leave you alone

        until you buy something.

The toilets are extremely bad in condition so be aware that you would need to bring toilet paper because they do not provide it. Most toilets are quite disgusting, so be aware when you enter a public toilet. China’s food is amazing. There are wonderful types of food, which you could buy for a cheap or expensive price, it really depends on where you buy it. On the streets, you could buy food for $1, and in good restaurants, one meal can cost up to $5000.

There are people who say food on the streets are unhygienic, but I have never gotten sick from eating it. China is a great place to visit, I have enjoyed visiting and I think if I could walk longer without getting tired, it would be even more enjoyable. It is great to go shopping, buy things for a cheap price and the money rate exchange is brilliant. You could get up to 7 Yuen (Chinese dollar) for one Australian dollar. If you choose the right time to visit, it should be overall a great experience.
