  • After being introduced to live cricket action for the very first time back when I was in the sixth grade, the live action bug hit me for a six and I found myself yearning for more
  • I like how the stadium is built, appearing small from the outside but very spacious inside although very compact, giving it a feeling of familiarity and me a sense of belonging
  • Entering the gates is always a streamlined exercise, even during the late pre game rush brought on by late comers and I have never had a security problem of any sort

After being introduced to live cricket action for the very first time back when I was in the sixth grade, the live action bug hit me for a six and I found myself yearning for more.

A Nashua Titan’s game in which my favorite player, Herschelle Gibbs was featured against the North West Dragons made for a very nice outing but after that, when I moved back to the Gauteng provice, Supersport Park in Centurion, which is closer to home became a place I would frequent right up until today. I particularly like attending one day international games

as well as test matches and don’t really like going to pro twenty-twenty games as I feel as if I am not getting full value for my money.

As far as the stadium itself goes, the fact that it is a stone’s throw away from my house adds a great deal of sentiment to it, making it feel as if I am literally in my own back yard.

Over the years, I have got to know the local home town heroes very well, with AB de Villiers being my pick of the bunch and going to this stadium for ...

      • any domestic league or international match always makes for a fun filled day.

I like how the stadium is built, appearing small from the outside but very spacious inside although very compact, giving it a feeling of familiarity and me a sense of belonging. Entering the gates is always a streamlined exercise, even during the late pre game rush brought on by late comers and I have never had a security problem of any sort. The food outlets are a bit far for my liking though, although they are suitably compensated for by all the mobile sellers constantly

doing the rounds and coming by every few minutes.

My favorite spot of all is catching the action from the grass banks, especially during the day and when I with my friends and my fondest memory was in the one day international game against Pakistan a couple of years ago when I recieved a thousand rands (local currency) for catching a ball hit for six runs by childhood hero, Herschelle Gibbs.

Supersport Park will indeed continue to be a sporting venue very close to my heart and I am certain to have many more memories of this cricketing oasis.
