I can be a little obsessive when it comes to cleaning. I have cleaning products for every thing that needs to be cleaned in the house. Since I spend an inordinate amount of time in front of my laptop, I have different kinds of cleaning products for it.

I have the 3M cleaning cloth for the surrounding shiny surfaces, and recently I bought the Cyber Clean Cleaning Compound from Japan Home for the keyboard. I usually bring my coffee and

occasionally, a cracker or two to my laptop especially when I am trying to beat a deadline.

I therefore worry that the keyboard, with its many nooks and crannies, will house insects because of the orts that fall between the cracks. Furthermore, my hands easily gets rashes when it comes into contact with dirt and so a clean keyboard is essential to me.

The Cyber Cleaning Compound is a gel-like substance that allegedly absorbs the dirt stuck between keys. The ...

      • directions are in three languages, liberally written at the back – German, French and English.

All you have to do is put the gel on top of the keyboard and press so that it can absorb the dirt. Be careful not to rub it.

I did and some parts of the gel came off. I failed to read the instructions at the back at once which directed the user to just press the cleaning compound on the surface to be

        cleaned.

I am not sure if it worked, but I can see my keyboard shine a little. However, it promised to get the dirt between the keys which I still see.

I am afraid to press harder but maybe I should. It does not work on any other surface except keyboard.

I tried it on the surrounding areas of my laptop and the smudges were still there. It costs me only about US$2 and so for its limited purpose, it is good enough.
