Is anyone else a Mel Brooks film lover? I know I am. The first time I saw one of his films, I was a kid and asked my mother about any other films he might have made. My first one was Robin Hood: Men in Tights, so I had not gotten the reference made at the end about the sheriff in Blazing Saddles. So I watched Blazing Saddles to see what they

      were talking about.

Sadly, I will admit I was a little bored with the beginning, even with its few funny scenes with Mel Brooks and Harvey Korman. I have found more humor in those beginning scenes now as an adult then as a child, for many of jokes and references were over my head as a child. And as in many Mel Brooks films, the acting was spot on with each character having something unique or different about them, that made them more memorable then they would have been in a normal film. More than anything, Gene Wilder is the one I loved most of all. He was funny and so self-confident as a gun-slinger. DeLuise’s part in Blazing Saddles. I mean, he was only in a few seconds at the end, but I was shocked at his weight. You watch him in Men in Tights, then in this and it’s like, WOW. He got so heavy in the later years. It’s sad that his talent is gone now for the few seconds in Blazing Saddles, he played the fruity director who still has me laughing to
      this day.

While this movie jumped around quick a bit, it’s special Mel Brooks style of story-telling and humor is still there and makes it a classic to me even now. While it is not my favorite Mel Brooks, it still ranks up there. Even with many of the talents in the film gone today, they are still some of the best that Hollywood has ever had and because they brought Mel Brooks masterpieces to life.
