I rented this movie mostly because of Sandra Bullock, she is always good. She was good here as well, although the character she plays, a homicide detective Cassie Mayweather, is somewhat unlikable. Cassie’s personality appears to have been permanently damaged by a brutal attack in the past, one that had made her decide to become a police investigator.

That’s why when a young woman’s body is

found dumped in the woods, Cassie takes the case personally. Thus begins the battle of wits between Cassie and the two killers - two highschool kids, Justin and Richard, who think they can outsmart the police and carry out a perfect crime.

Yes, that’s their motive: they kill the woman purely out of boredom, as a sort of a game. They collect and plant false evidence, trying to frame another man - to the point of cutting off the dead victim’s finger and putting it into his freezer.

However, they do make mistakes. One of them is using Richard’s boots to dump the body.

well when Cassie comes to question him, acting surprised and worried and promising to fully cooperate with the investigation, but Cassie smells the rat.

From that very moment, she begins to suspect that something isn’t right with these two. When the evidence starts falling in too perfectly and a couple of things don’t add up, she becomes convinced that they did it.

      Now all she needs

is some valid proof. The movie is no masterpiece, but it is well done.

Some unnecessary sex scenes could be avoided, but that’s Hollywood, how can they possibly make a movie without that. There’s a fight in the end in which Cassie is strangely helpless; one would think that being in the police, she would know how to throw some good punches.

But overall, the movie is worth watching.
