TRON: Legacy has gotten much criticism for its messy plot, yet I had a hard time discerning what exactly some critics found so confusing. Having been a fan of the 1982 original, I found this film to be a fairly successful sequel, and a unique story on its own. Although it has many adult themes, this is a movie primarily directed for the rich imaginations of children or adults that can enjoy fantasy

and science fiction. Yes, it is not the most poignant or the most well acted movie, but it does not claim to be. If you enter the theater with no pretensions or expectations, you will enjoy this film and walk away happy.

The story centers around Sam Flynn, a young man who, in search for his prodigal father, stumbles into the electronic game world of TRON that Kevin Flynn created. Sam soon begins to realize that the story-land of which his father spoke when he was a child is on the brink of war. Upon discovering his father, who has spent long years trying to fix what has gone wrong, Sam embarks on an adventure to preserve his father’s legacy and, in turn, find his own place in the world beyond.

At its core, TRON: Legacy is a familiar story of self-discovery and redemption. However, this simple theme is so ...

persistent for a reason. It is a tale that resonates over and over again with anyone who has had a similar difficulty with finding their place in the world. In a way, Sam’s story is the story of every young man and woman, making it relatable and relevant in any age.

This is an attractive movie that has a lot of color and CGI effects. The music, done by Daft Punk, is an excellent

addition and works seamlessly with the plot and the imagined world of TRON. The running time, rounding out to about two hours, is a little long, and the story could have been wrapped up a half an hour earlier. But overall, I had a great time. This is not a movie that requires much contemplation, before during or after; it is simply mindless entertainment at its best. Go for a good time, not for dinner conversation.
