  • If you are looking for the best burger you have ever tasted, Veselka in New York City’s East Village is the perfect place for you
  • The burger is not the only reason to visit this interesting locale, a variety of ethnic foods as well as its unbeatable hours make this a great place to grab a bite
  • I am most impressed with their incredibly convenient hours
  • The real star of the show, however, is their half-pound “greasefully” delicious burger
  • Just the right amount of heft, the sandwich is easy to bite, which has definitely been a problem with other burgers, and provides the most delectable symphony of flavors

If you are looking for the best burger you have ever tasted, Veselka in New York City’s East Village is the perfect place for you. After searching far and wide for a burger worth it’s salt, I have come to the decision that no one does it like this strange little Ukranian café. The burger is not the only reason to visit this interesting locale, a variety of ethnic foods as well as its unbeatable hours make this a great place to grab a bite.

Residing in its prime corner location on 2nd Avenue, Veselka is a brightly lit, bustling little diner that almost always draws an interesting crowd. Whether it is hip East Village

youth, out for a bite to eat before a night on the town, or a silver-haired group of Baby Boomers discussing politics over some borscht, there is always plenty of people watching to do here, which is part of this restaurant’s infinite charm. Complete with a full seating section and a well-sized counter, Veselka is fit for a complete dinner or a quick sandwich or muffin. I am most impressed with their incredibly convenient hours; they never close! This is a 24-hour joint, which is endlessly convenient.

The food is exceptional, far more so than I ever expected from a busy, simply designed diner. Their specialty is Ukranian food, so be prepared to try out ...

      • their pierogies and borscht, both of which are flavorful and filling. Along with each meal, I was presented with a healthy portion of real, fresh rye bread, which was a nice addition, especially to accompany a soup or a steak. The real star of the show, however, is their half-pound “greasefully” delicious burger. Just the right amount of heft, the sandwich is easy to bite, which has definitely been a problem with other burgers, and provides the most delectable symphony of flavors. The bun is a great consistency, never getting soggy and fully able to support this hefty slab of meat. The selection of cheeses to go along with the burger are impressive, there
are about five different options. Not to mention, what is a burger without some good fries to accentuate it? Veselka does fries right, giving the option of regular or sweet potato, both of which are crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and taste like real potatoes (not salt or cardboard). This is the only place where I consistently finish my fries, because they are absolutely irresistible. I was blown away by this meal.

While others have paled in comparison, there is much besides the burger to choose from at Veselka, the above-mentioned pierogies being an excellent example. This place offers stellar food at very reasonable prices, especially when considering their location and popularity.
