I have always loved the work of Michael Douglas, so when I was given a copy of Solitary Man, I could not wait to sit down to watch it. The movie stars Michael Douglas, along with Dany Devito, and Susan Sarandon. Michael Douglas plays a man in mid-life crisis, who is divorced, and has tried to recapture his youth through younger women.

He has lost his business, and was involved with a wealthy woman with connections, that could help him

get the financing he needed to rebuild his life. He had connections with the college she was trying to get her daughter into, and suggested he take her for her college interview, but before the weekend was over, ended up sleeping with her.

Obviously, this caused many problems, as the daughter told her mother, and she began pulling the plug on all of the financing she had lined up for him for his new dealership. I was a little disappointed in this movie, and really did not enjoy the story line at all.

Michael Douglas gave a good performance for the role he played, however I was not fond of this role at all, and the story line could have been done much better than it was. Susan Sarandon, as always brought her grace to the screen, and played her role to perfection, as she always does.

I was disappointed though, that she didn’t play a larger ...

role in the movie. Danny Devito did well in his part as well, however I was a little disappointed that his role too was as minimal as it was.

The movie could have been much better, if the role of Susan Sarandon and Danny Devito could have been expanded. I think the movie would have carried itself better, and would have given it more interest.

Solitary Man was an “okay” movie, but not one I would watch

again. It is one of those movies that “once you’ve seen it”, - then okay, but not one of those you have the desire to see again.

If you are looking for something to just pass the time, Solitary Man would do that for you. If you’re looking for a movie that will make you feel good, and better for watching it,- you would do good to save your money on this one, and choose something else.
