  • The vehicle designs aren't the best but they'll suffice for what you're about to do with them

Burnout Legends is one of a list of Burnout games such as Burnout Paradise and Burnout Dominator. There’s more Burnout games than I can remember, for a complete list a simple seach in wikipedia should bring up all the releases. Burnout games are not your regular driving/racing games.

In Burnout Legends there are a few modes to keep anyone in need of crazy fun on their PSP (only comparable to the kind of fun one would have playing a Grand Theft Auto game). The music is pretty much all punk rock and the likes, which I don’t mind at all and it makes you do even crazier things in the game.

      Anyway,

you have your regular races, which is not the highlight of a Burnout game. It’s once you start playing modes like Road Rage, Pursuit and Crash when you realise what’s on offer, and all 3 modes will have you coming back again for more craziness.

In Road Rage your goal is not to come first, it’s to ram all the other cars off the road. What I really like about this mode is it gives you a nice little slow-motion cutscene of the car(s) as they fly off the road all smashed up and surrounded by their shattered pieces.

Nitro? yes, your cars have nitro boost and for me that is an added ...

      • bonus for any driving game. The vehicle designs aren’t the best but they’ll suffice for what you’re about to do with them.

In pursuit mode it’s your job to pursue a car with TARGET written in capitals above it in green. As you cause more damage to the car by ramming it and bull-horning it up its rear end, the TARGET will eventually turn red, and you know you’re close to success which results in the car flipping and flying off the road.

But the mayhem doesn’t stop there, because Crash mode has to be the most insane mode I have played in any driving game. Your only objective in this mode is

to drive a short distance gaining as much momentum and speed as possible to cause a chain reaction of traffic pile ups and then seting of a bomb to unleash the unlimate havoc.

Burnout Legends is a great game, not just a great driving game, and that’s pretty amazing considering it’s for the PSP not the PS3. There’s not much in terms of unlockables here besides unlocking the cars, but there are a good number of cars to unlock, some SUV’s and even a big rig that’s not really fast but is lots of fun to use in Crash mode.

That about wraps up my thoughts of this game. I rate it 8/10.
