Leng Authentic Thai Asian
33-09 Broadway, Astoria NY 11106
  • My personal favorites have been the unbelievably delicious Lard Na Nuea Sub, which tastes something like a Thai barbeque, smothered by warm and fluffy noodles, and the Jap Chae which is a Korean beef dish, but it is absolutely flawless here
  • A selection of Thai beers joins several different sake options and is rounded off by a few interesting non-alcoholic beverages such as pomegranate lemonade
  • Whatever you choose, it is likely that it will be a lovely addition to your already amazing meal

Whenever I am craving some excellent food, impressive variety, and a great bargain, I head over to Leng Authentic Thai restaurant. Set amidst a plethora of exceptional food in Astoria, Queens, Leng outdoes just about every other place I have tried in the neighborhood with their quality and service.

First, there is the food. Although the standard selection of Thai fare such as Pad Thai and Pad See Ew is still present, other, more creative dishes blend Thai cuisine with Korean and Malaysian influences to concoct delectable flavors for the more adventurous palate. Each and every dish that I have tried at this restaurant has been perfectly executed.

My personal favorites have been the unbelievably delicious Lard Na Nuea Sub, which tastes something like a Thai barbeque, smothered by warm and fluffy noodles, and the Jap Chae which is a Korean beef dish, but it is absolutely flawless here. The drink selection is far less broad, yet no less impressive. A selection of Thai beers joins several different sake options and is rounded off by a few interesting non-alcoholic beverages such as pomegranate lemonade. Whatever you choose, it is likely that it will be a lovely addition to your already amazing meal.

Food alone is not the deciding factor of a great restaurant; good service must also ...

      • be considered in the mix. In this category, Leng is also a winner! The wait staff here is unbelievably friendly, greeting you with a smile and offering helpful suggestions and explanations of menu items. Also, it must be mentioned that it is highly unlikely that your water glass will ever reach empty as someone immediately fills it to the brim whenever it gets close. The staff is very conscious of your needs and checks up just enough to make you feel taken care of without being overwhelming. The food arrives quickly, as does the check when you ask for it.

Although the prices are pretty standard

for this area, which is not necessarily a steal, the portions are sizeable and extremely filling, so you will not be feel cheated. Leftovers are almost always to be had, and the food carries very well.

The ambience of the restaurant is also quite lovely. Soft lighting, intricate tapestries and unique wall hangings envelop the customer, creating a wonderful atmosphere, perfectly matched to the cuisine. There is an outdoor seating area to enjoy in the warmer months. The entire place feels as if it is in a land far away from the hustle and bustle of the busy New York streets. This is a restaurant that is not to be missed!
