Sniper:Ghost Warrior is a budget PC game. It is also available on Xbox 360 and normally retails for around 30-40 dollars (AUD). Despite its small budget, Sniper: Ghost Warrior was not a bad buy and it is quite good for the price you pay for it.

The Storyline isn’t a great one. You, as the title suggests are a sniper and you miss an important shot and then you spend the rest of the game chasing after the bad guy who you missed. You can’t really expect much in storyline from a game that is so cheap and if this was a full scale major game, it would have been horrible, but since of the small budgets I’d classify it as acceptable.

What it lacks in storyline, is made up for by the

Sniper game play. Sniper:Ghost Warrior does have some quite unique game play that you do not normally see in mainstream games. Surprising as it may seem, the handling of the guns is quite nice and is not clunky. Furthermore they have implemented a mode where you must adjust your shot according to the distance, wind and angle of your shot like a real sniper. This is actually really difficult to do and I haven’t mastered it yet. However if this is too hard you can always play it on the easier mode which allows you to have a red dot to where your bullet will go. This however is still quite challenging as the red marker will stray and and forth according to the wind.

The Slow motion cam is another great edition ...

      • to the game and you will find it very satisfying when you watch your bullet flying slowly through the air and embed itself in an enemies skull. This small cinematic really adds a whole new cool factor to the game and makes it that much better.

Furthermore the graphics are quite amazing for a budget game. It doesn’t have the small textures with no lighting that most budget games have but has a full lighting engine which is quite incredible. The graphics as well definitely surprised me with many beautiful waterfalls and scenery. Surprisingly the graphics do not require a high end computer and even with a low end computer I think that it would be playable.

Despite its great game play, it does have a few faults in it. First of all

the game is sometime illogical as you can hear you puffing breath while talking into your radio. It may be a small matter, but these things really annoy me. Another thing is the fact that the boundaries that the creators have made are not clear or well designed annoyed the hell out of me as you sometimes couldn’t even jump over a rock. Another thing is that the AI at times can see you even though you are completely covered by foliage and makes stealth, which is a vital element of this game difficult. However there is a patch that fixes this.

This is quite a good game for its price and for it is good value. The game play and graphics are definitely from a game where you would pay three times the price for.
