  • Alan Shearer will be forever remembered as one of the best strikers that England has ever seen
  • It's not hard for a striker to get noticed because it happens if you score goals or if you struggle to score goals, in Shearers case he was a real goal scorer, so much so that when the Premier League formed a tud of war for his signature took place
  • However the form of Shearer was making him a target for clubs again, especially after Blackburn began to struggle and Shearer enjoyed a successful Euro 96 with England
  • He retired from football but was denied the chance of a final game by injury and after a brief stint in management trying to help Newcastle avoid relegation he has forged a career for himself on Match of The Day
  • Great footballer, but sounds as boring as anything when he speaks

Alan Shearer will be forever remembered as one of the best strikers that England has ever seen. He remains the top scorer in Premier League history and had scorted goals where ever he had played.

His career started on the south coast with Southampton and it was here after a bit of a slow start that he started to get noticed. It’s not hard for a striker to get noticed because it happens if you score goals or if you struggle to score goals, in Shearers case he was a real goal scorer,

so much so that when the Premier League formed a tud of war for his signature took place.

Manchester United had just missed out on the league title and Blackburn had gained promotion having stormed the Division 1 league the season before. Jack Walker was their wealthy owner and he was more than happy to get his cash out to buy players capable of competing in the top flight and Shearer it seemed had been lured by the cash and prospect of front the Blackburn attack.

Manchester United managed to win the league for ...

      • the next two years but the Alan Shearer and hi strike partner Chris Sutton bagged a huge amount of goals and the title was won by Blackburn. However the form of Shearer was making him a target for clubs again, especially after Blackburn began to struggle and Shearer enjoyed a successful Euro 96 with England.

Manchester United were in for his signature again and this time it appeared that Shearer was willing to sign, but at the last minute he signed for his home town club Newcastle United who were also challenging for

        the league title.

No body really knew if he had really been denied a move to Manchester United but whilst he enjoyed a great time at Newcastle, breaking their scoring record, no more trophies were to follow whilst Manchester United continued to rack them up.

He retired from football but was denied the chance of a final game by injury and after a brief stint in management trying to help Newcastle avoid relegation he has forged a career for himself on Match of The Day.

Great footballer, but sounds as boring as anything when he speaks!
