  • That is probably more of a reflection of my inability to identify them than it is to their experience, but I was surprised by how well this film moved and how well it frightened me
  • I’ve seen a lot of horror movies, and I know a good scream when I seen one, and this movie had lungs full
  • I enjoyed the paranormal team that is assigned to the three friends, and the house under investigation was creepy and did well in carrying parts of the plot along
  • I would recommend this film to anyone looking for a decent haunted house/paranormal investigation film in a world where they come fast but rarely last long

Another installment in the “8 Films to Die For” lineup, “The Gravedancers” is a film about three high school friends reunited by a funeral and facing off in a traditional haunted house fright fest. This is the type of film that reminds me of how a simple story, when well executed, can be just as potent as big name actors and directors.

I didn’t recognize any of the actors in this film. That is probably more

of a reflection of my inability to identify them than it is to their experience, but I was surprised by how well this film moved and how well it frightened me. I’ve seen a lot of horror movies, and I know a good scream when I seen one, and this movie had lungs full.

I liked the story line, and I loved the opening scene. I also must admit that the way the movie is played ...

      • out isn’t too heavy on blood or cheesy scare gimmicks. This was a pleasant surprise and a nice change of pace from the usual horror genre movie that I’ve become used too.

I enjoyed the paranormal team that is assigned to the three friends, and the house under investigation was creepy and did well in carrying parts of the plot along. The only complaint that I have with this film came with some of the last

minute computer generated effects. While these certainly didn’t ruin the film, they didn’t add anything to make a good film great.

I would recommend this film to anyone looking for a decent haunted house/paranormal investigation film in a world where they come fast but rarely last long. This is one of those little gems that might not be up for any award but could still go down as decent in a genre running light on new heavyweights.
