6 months ago, I purchased two of these DIY cubes from C4U (cube for you) online store. They are quite affordable at about $10 each. The website offered DIY cube assembly upon order, so I actually ended up getting one pre-made one and a normal DIY cube. When the order arrived, I received two clear DIY cubes in stylish cube boxes. Each cube came with a set of C4U stickers and a few speed cubing algorithms. The stickers were fairly well made, so I put them on and have

not needed to replace them since.

After assembling the DIY cubes, I tested them. The Pre-assembled DIY cube was put together very well, and I had assembled the other cube likewise. The cubes turned very well without cube lubricant, so I only applied lubricant onto one cube to see how the other one would do after a few months. For the first month, both cubes had identical performance, with the lubed cube being slightly more quiet during turns.

After many months, I now know the cubes very well. Applying lube ...

      • to the DIY cubes keeps them in almost perfect condition, and at top performance. As long as lube is regularly applied, the cube has no major problems. On the other hand, not applying lube causes several issues. The clear plastic that makes the cube is softer than most other cubes. If lube is not applied for about 3 weeks and the cube is used often, the plastic quickly grinds into a very fine clear powder. Most cubes do not wear themselves out so quickly, so I find it quite
unusual. The fine powder slows down the cube, eventually making it slow and tiring to solve. Removing the powder is tedious, and never returns the cube to its original state.

Although this cube must be lubed quite often, it is still quite good. The center caps are securely hinged into place, unlike the Rubiks DIY cubes. I have never had issues with center caps popping out with this C4U clear DIY cube. Anyone looking for a decent DIY cube would find this cube more than enough. It just has to be maintained regularly.
