  • I had heard good things about this medication though and considering the frequency in which I seem to develop cold sores and the extreme degree of discomfort that comes with those cold sores, I was definitely willing to give this medication a try
  • Unlike some previous cold sore medications that I had tried, namely the Abreva Cold Sore Treatment and Nexcare Cold Sore Treatment, I actually enjoyed a limited degree of relief when I applied this medication to a cold sore that I had
  • I noticed that upon application, I felt a slight soothing sensation that eased some of the pain
  • While the cold sore medication did deliver relief to a point where having the cold sore was not such an excruciating experience, the medication failed to hasten the healing process and free me from having an unsightly sore on my lip
  • I wouldn't buy this medication again, especially since I found the product known as Canker-Rid by Durham's Bee Farm, Inc

There are a number of medications freely available for purchase without a prescription in drug stores and grocery stores that are designed to ease the symptoms and discomfort associated with cold sores. Generally, these medications aren’t cheap. The Releev 1-Day Cold Sore Symptom Treatment medication, for example, runs for almost twenty dollars. The medication comes in a zero point two ounce tube and that’s really not a lot of medication at all for that kind of money. I had heard good things about this medication though and considering the frequency in which I seem to develop cold sores and the extreme degree of discomfort that comes with those cold sores, I was definitely willing to give this medication a try.

I applied this medication to a cold sore that I had. I noticed that upon application, I felt a slight soothing sensation that eased some of the pain. It didn’t hurt quite as much to smile or yawn. There was still some soreness and pain that would shoot through me when I would smile or yawn, but at least I noticed a reduction in the discomfort. The relief came relatively quickly and numbed out some of the soreness, and I applied more of the medication as directed as the day went on. This medication most certainly made having a cold sore more bearable and less distracting, at least for me, but it failed to do something that was as important as easing the symptoms associated with having a cold sore, and that was making the darn thing disappear faster than if I had applied no medication at all.

      Cold ...

      • sores, for me, generally seem to hang around for about ten days, more or less. I had hoped that this medication would heal my cold sore quicker than the natural healing process. That didn’t seem to happen though. While the cold sore medication did deliver relief to a point where having the cold sore was not such an excruciating experience, the medication failed to hasten the healing process and free me from having an unsightly sore on my lip. The cold sore eventually went away, but only after visiting me for its typical amount of time. I started applying this cold sore medication about two or three days after the cold sore first surfaced. Perhaps if I would’ve applied the medication as soon as the cold sore showed its ugly head, but I didn’t have the medication at the time and I wasn’t able to immediately go out and
        get it, unfortunately.

The Releev 1-Day Cold Sore Symptom Treatment is an effective medication to an extent. It helps conceal some of the pain that a cold sore causes and makes going about one’s daily routine with a cold sore more bearable. The medication didn’t seem to help the healing process along, although it may have had something to do with me not applying the medication sooner. The cost of the medication was excessive considering the small amount of medication that came in the package. I wouldn’t buy this medication again, especially since I found the product known as Canker-Rid by Durham’s Bee Farm, Inc. to be far more effective in easing the pain of cold sores and helping to heal cold sores quickly. Still, I’m going to rate it a “3″ since it at least successfully managed to take away some of the pain caused by pesky and persistent cold sores.
